Medical standards in European Union states are amongst the highest in the world. The European Union has established EU laws and regulations that demand high standards of the health systems of its member states. The Framework and other Directives are the foundations of European safety and health legislation. The directives set the minimum standards and key principles, including risk assessment and employer / employee responsibilities. The Health and Consumer Protection Directorate General regularly checks that rules are being applied in all EU countries and health and safety standards are kept at the same high level. This ensures that health standards maintain at the same level across all member states. Poland as one of the member states has to comply with those regulations that also regard the qualifications needed to become a doctor.
