Getting to Poland from the UK or other major Western European cities is easy and affordable. Changes in aviation legislations since Poland joined the EU in 2004 have contributed to the emergence of number of new routes between European cities and Poland. Biggest European low cost airlines including Ryanair, EasyJet. Wizzair, German Wings entered the Polish market and introduced cheap flights to Poland. Competition between airlines also reduced the cost of travel. Full service airlines such us Lot, British Airways or Lufthansa have reduced their fares amid stiff competition from their low-cost counterparts. As a result, the tourism to Poland has thrived and has been in its peak for the past two years. There are direct flights to Polish cities from almost all major UK and Irish airports. There are daily flights from London Stanstead, Gatwick, Luton, Heathrow, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and many more UK airports. While Warsaw and Krakow airports are still the main aviation hubs in Poland, number of other, smaller airports have been modernised since the EU accession and are now serving international passengers. Tourists can also travel to Poland by coach or by car. Number of bus operators offer direct routes from most European cities. Tickets are usually cheap and widely available. Travelling by car is recommended for more experienced tourists as Poland is about 15 – 20 hours drive from the UK.
